History
Settle down easy at The Quoin. Dating back to 1885, our historic brownstone has been completely reimagined by Method Co., the leading Philadelphia-based hospitality company in partnership with the Buccini/Pollin Group. We get our name from the old french word “Quoin,” meaning “angle” or “corner” in a structural setting. Quoins are most common in Western architecture and have ‘dressed’ stone or wood detailing to catch the eye. Quoin (pronounced “Coin”) also honors the legacy of the space. The building served as a holding ground for silver and gold coins throughout the 1900s.

"Start with nothing but paper, pencil and a free hand; Have no fear."

Method Studios, Method’s in-house interior design and branding firm collaborated with longstanding Philadelphia-based architect Stokes Architecture to fully program the site. The 24 luxury guest rooms and suites pay homage to the building’s original architecture with fully restored interior details: arched windows, masonry and brass detailing blended with a nature-inspired identity, and thoughtfully designed with curated furniture, floral wallpaper, and an interior palette influenced by original Victorian-era paints dating back to 1820. This is the second hotel to open outside of Philadelphia for Method, the visionaries behind the beloved hospitality concepts, Wm. Mulherin’s Sons Restaurant & Hotel, HIROKI, Whyle, Roost Apartment Hotel and The Pinch.
